For those interested in a career in merchandise buying, planning or product development, we offer one of the industry’s top merchandising training programs which puts candidates on the fast track to an exciting career within a few years of graduation.

Our Executive Training Program includes:

  • In-depth, 8 week curriculum: As a trainee, you will spend half of your time in a classroom setting learning the ins-and-outs of the retail world from Subject Matter Experts across all areas of the company including merchandising, private brand, and E-commerce. This will give you the opportunity to learn the business and network with some of our top Associates in a small group setting.
  • Hands-On Experience in a Buying Office: You will be placed in a buying office where you will spend the other half of your time job-shadowing and working hand-in-hand with your Assistant Buyer and Assistant Merchandise/Inventory Planner on a daily basis.
  • Meetings with Key Executives: Throughout the program, you will be involved in roundtable discussions with each of our key executives.
  • A Chance to Get out of the Office: As a trainee, you will get a chance to see visit our distribution center, photo studio, and store locations to learn about each area from the leaders in those areas themselves.

Our Executive Training Program includes:

  • Unparalleled Visibility: You will meet and network, ask questions, and get noticed by leaders from all areas of the organization – a great way to be remembered for opportunities down the road.
  • A Chance to Try Each Position on for Size: Throughout the Executive Trainee program, you will have the opportunity to try out each of our Assistant-level positions to determine where you fit best.
  • Placement Directly into Buying or Planning: Once you have completed the training program, you will be placed as an Assistant Buyer, Assistant Inventory Planner or Assistant Merchandise Planner based on your skill set and career goals.
  • Put your Career on the Fast track: At Bon-Ton, there is no set timeline for how long you have to stay in an entry-level position before being promoted and advancing your career. If you work hard to make an impact, it will be recognized and rewarded. Our most successful trainees have advanced from Executive Trainee to Buyer/Planner in 2-3 years.
